The Six Rivers National Forest is back with another logging proposal in the Eel River Late-Successional Reserve (LSR), and this time it wants to skip full public review. The Bucktail Vegetation Management Project covers a 14,400-acre planning area on the Mad River Ranger District, south of Dinsmore between Highway 36 and Van Duzen Road, next to the Mount Lassic Wilderness. These older forests are also in designated Critical Habitat for northern spotted owls

The Trinity Divide/Lakehead Fuel Break Project proposes to remove up to 60–70% of the forest canopy from nearly 2,000 acres within a 2,538-acre project area in Northern California without a full environmental review.
