On April 21, 2026, Chief Judge Denise Casper of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts granted a preliminary injunction (a pre-trial remedy meant to preserve the status quo) against a series of actions by the Department of the Interior and other federal agencies that had collectively stalled renewable energy permitting nationwide during the second Trump Administration.
