On May 14, EPIC-sponsored legislation AB 2494 that will end the commercial logging mandate in all state forests, including the Jackson Demonstration State Forest, will be heard in its second committee hearing in the California State Legislature. The Assembly Appropriations Committee will vote on the bill, deciding whether it continues the process through the legislature to eventually get signed into law by Governor Newsom.
If our supporters would like to watch the hearing, they can do so at the link HERE.
If you haven’t already, consider signing our petition, expressing support for our bill to the California State Legislature.
A more pointed and direct way to support the bill would be to reach out to the Chair, Assemblymember Buffy Wicks of District 14, who leads the Appropriations Committee and may decide whether the bill dies in this committee or not.
Send a message to Assemblymember Buffy Wicks here, or consider calling her office, asking her to pass AB 2494 out of the Appropriations Committee  (916) 319-2014.
Thank you to all of our supporters for their persistent advocacy and help in getting this bill to become a reality for our state forests!
