The U.S. Forest Service is rushing salvage logging into one of northern California's most biologically rare watersheds, under a legal shortcut that bypasses environmental review.

The sweeping restructuring of the United States Forest Service represents one of the most dramatic reorganizations of a federal land management agency in the nation's history, placing 193 million acres of public land at risk.

Today, the Forest Service has taken the next step in rescinding the Roadless Rule, potentially making 4.4 million acres of old growth forests, rivers, and wildlife in California vulnerable to industrial logging and road development.
