This Sunday was nothing short of incredible. More than 200 community members came together for a Community Forum on Offshore Drilling, showing just how deeply people in Humboldt care about the health of our coast, our climate, and our future.
Attendees heard from state and local representatives, local business owners, nonprofit leaders, and fellow community members who shared what offshore drilling would mean for our region, from risks to marine ecosystems and fisheries, to threats to tourism, public health, and Tribal and coastal livelihoods.
The response was powerful. In just a few hours, hundreds of public comments opposing offshore drilling were submitted, making it clear that our community is paying attention and ready to speak up when our ocean is at risk. We had printed hundreds of comment postcards, and before the events ended, we ran out!
Read the article from Lost Coast Outpost, recapping the event! Thank you to everyone who showed up.
