2022 Fire Recovery Campout Summary
On the weekend of May 21-22, EPIC sponsored a campout near Ruth to look at recovery from the massive 2020 August Fire, and examine how fire is managed. The 2022 fire campout was a success. Here’s a summary and some pictures. Many people stepped up in large ways and small to help create this event. EPIC in Fifth Year of Protecting the Rare Shasta Snow Wreath
2018 was EPIC's first year of pulling Scotch broom to protect the Shasta snow wreath from the Shasta-Trinity National Forest use of herbicides. After five years, we have shown that people power is more effective than toxic chemicals. Action Alert: Don't Give PG&E More Power! Oppose SB 396!
Recently, many landowners on the North Coast have experienced Pacific Gas & Electric’s (PG&E) Enhanced Vegetation Management. In fact, PG&E has been logging wide swaths along their utility power lines on private, state, and federal lands. PG&E claims that clearing trees near their power lines is necessary to prevent wildfires. CAL FIRE Withdraws Three Logging Plans In Jackson Demonstration State Forest
On May 28th, CAL FIRE released its weekly report documenting the status of all Timber Harvest Plans (THPs) in California. The Save Jackson Coalition was pleased to learn that three controversial THPs located in Jackson Demonstration State Forest (JDSF) had been withdrawn.
