Marten Critical Habitat: EPIC & CBD Comments On Green Diamond’s Special Treatment
Just before Christmas, EPIC and the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) submitted comments on the proposed Critical Habitat designation for the Humboldt marten. Read them here. Green Diamond has received special treatment from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. While the Service has recognized elsewhere that the company’s lands near the Klamath River are important to the conservation of the marten—they connect the remnant California population, isolated in Six Rivers Natio

Saving Jackson Demonstration State Forest: New Year Updates
The struggle to save Jackson Demonstration State Forest from greedy industrial logging started off the new year with a bang. First, on January 10th, CAL FIRE issued its first arrests against protestors in the forest. The North Coast Holds Together Through Redistricting
Redistricting is complete. For more than six months, EPIC has asked for your help in testifying before the California Citizens Redistricting Commission, our non-partisan and citizen-led commission charged with redrawing political maps for Congress as well as the state Assembly and Senate. We wanted to keep legislative districts that melded together the North Coast to help ensure that environmental voters in our region had a strong voice. We also worked to help uplift the inte
