The Environmental Protection Information Center (EPIC) is the region’s largest environmental advocacy group. Since 1977, we have protected the wildlife and wild places of Northwest California’s ecosystems, using an integrated, science-based approach, combining public education, citizen advocacy, and strategic litigation.
Today, habitat protection requires addressing the climate crisis, as a warming planet will upend the ecosystems of Northwest California. The Decarbonize the North Coast Advocate ("Advocate") will lead EPIC’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by engaging local, state and government agencies to move forward with regionally-appropriate climate action.
The Advocate will also work closely on pressing climate issues, including offshore wind energy development and other energy issues (including solar, grid connection improvements, and storage), development and implementation of a local Climate Action Plan, and citizen advocacy before local governments related to climate change. Success will require a passion for climate action, an understanding of climate issues, an ability to build consensus with diverse stakeholders, and strong communication skills.
Qualified and motivated applicants should submit a resume and cover letter by December 21, 2022 to Tom Wheeler at firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “Decarbonize the North Coast Advocate Position.” Applications will not be reviewed until after the December 21st deadline.
