Calpine's decision to abandon its proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility on Humboldt Bay is a resounding victory for our community, demonstrating that effective citizen action really can change the world for the better.
This victory was possible only because so many people came together and contributed, united in their commitment to seeing a brighter vision for Humboldt Bay. EPIC would like to send a sincere, heart-felt "thank you" to everyone who helped make it happen--meaning everyone who wrote a letter or made a call, collected signatures on petitions, came to a meeting, contributed funds, and/or talked to their friends or neighbors.

The dark cloud of LNG had a bright silver lining: it left our community better informed, more engaged in local politics, and empowered. It also helped forge new friendships and create and strengthen alliances.
