Environment Now Praises EPIC

EPIC is honored to be supported by Environment Now, a private foundation that is dedicated to protecting, preserving and restoring the environment of California, and which supports effective, grassroots organizations working on the cutting edge of environmental protection.

Recently, Environment Now's Forestry Project Director, Kris Haddad, told EPIC why they believe so strongly in supporting our work:

"Environment Now had a working relationship with EPIC before I arrived here. As I began talking to people and doing research, it became clear to me that EPIC is one of the premier organizations working on forest protection and that they are a prototype that should be replicated elsewhere. EPIC is hard-edged and comprehensive - basically a lean, mean fighting machine. We like to support groups and projects that cut the fat and are edgy, daring and get to the root of the problem.

"What makes EPIC strong is the caliber of people working for the organization and the successes that they've already had. One of the most important things that I did was to take a tour with [previous EPIC Executive Director] Paul Mason of forestlands in Humboldt County. I gained a sense of the lay of the land - I learned what had been saved and what had not. It became clear to me that if EPIC weren't here, much of the still-intact forest I saw would have been decimated.

"That was the most provocative experience I have had in this job - seeing the effectiveness of a group's efforts to actually save landscapes."

EPIC thanks Environment Now, and all of our foundation and individual supporters. It is only through your support that we are able to be so successful. We hope that you will continue your generous support.
