Phase I - Fuels Treatment For Community Protection
National Forest Conservation Project

EPIC recently initiated a National Forest Conservation Project to protect the irreplaceable public values of the National Forests of Northwestern California. The core of this project are Anthony Ambrose and Christine Ambrose, formerly with Citizens for Better Forestry

Plaintiffs on this lawsuit against the Forest Services proposal to salvage log in a roadless area are: Environmental Protection Information Center, Sierra Club, California Wilderness Coalition, Klamath Forest Alliance, Center for Biological Diversity, Klamath-Siskiyou Wildlands Center, and Forest Conservation Council. We are represented by Marc Fink of the Western Environmental Law Center.

The red areas on the map represents the current round of proposed logging on the Six Rivers NF. The grey lines and yellow areas show the fuelbreaks and other areas that the Six Rivers NF wants to log in future proposals Light green areas are inventoried roadless areas which should be added to the Trinity Alps Wilderness (dark green). The area shown in purple is the New River timber sale, which is being sold and analyzed seperately, even though it is obviously part of the same project Piece-mealing large projects into several smaller ones to avoid detecting obvious environmental impacts is illegal
