1-07-161 Hum- LE 51
This Scotia Pacific THP which includes 68.9 acres of clearcuts is adjacent to Stitz Creek, approximately 2.5 miles SE to 3.5 miles E of Scotia. The THP includes Late Seral Forest, and Class `D' marbled murrelet habitat. This THP is currently being held up because the forester has not submitted a response to the PHI.
1-07-204 Hum- Root 09 THP
This Scotia Pacific THP is located 1.25 miles west of the community of Swains Flat, and 2.5 miles NE of Holmes, directly adjacent to Root Creek which is a tributary into the Van Duzen River. The THP includes 61.2 acres of clearcuts, 93.2 acres of shelterwood preparatory step cuts, and 18 acres of select cuts. There are no Late Successional or Late Seral Forest stands proposed for harvest. There is 1 level 2 spotted owl territory within 500 feet of an appurtenant road, and there are three level 1 spotted owl territories within a 1.5 miles of the THP, and seven level 2 & 3 spotted owl territories within 1.5 miles of the THP. CGS turned in a really long report on two road points adjacent to Humboldt Redwoods State Park for this THP.
1-08-001 Hum- Looped THP
This Scotia Pacific THP is located approximately 4 miles east of Weott, and Bell Creek, Bloyd Creek, McCann Creek, and Devil's Elbow Creek run through it. The THP includes 24 acres of clearcuts. The Erosion Hazard Rating for this THP includes low, moderate and high ratings, as well as unstable soils or slide areas. Winter operations, new road and landing construction, as well as directional feling of trees away within WLPZs are planned for this THP. There are landowners within 1000 feet downstream of the THP boundary. There are no Late Successional Forest or Late Seral Forest Stands proposed for harvest as part of this plan.
1-08-002 Hum- LE 59 THP
This Scotia Pacific THP is approximately 1 mile west of Rio Dell, adjacent to Nanning Creek, Tank Gulch and the Eel River. The THP proposes 15 acres of clearcuts, 47 acres of Shelterwood Preparatory cuts, 23 acres of Shelterwood Removal Step cuts, and 178.5 acres of Selection cuts. The THP includes winter operations, new road and landing construction, directional felling of trees in WLPZs, and landowners within 1000 feet downstream from proposed logging operations. There is one Level 1 NSO territory within 500 feet of proposed logging, as well as 9 other Level 1-3 NSO sites within 1.5 miles of the THP. This plan includes a release of 20.2 acres of `C' and `D' murrelet habitat by USFWS. Also there is an occupied osprey nest tree within the harvest boundary of Unit 2. There are also 2 Peregrine Falcon sites within .5 miles of this THP. There is also a red-shouldered hawk nest site located south of Unit 2. There is Late Seral Forest proposed for harvesting as part of this THP.
1-08-003 Hum- Panhandle 08 THP
This Scotia Pacific THP is approximately 1.5 miles SW of Hacketsville, California, adjacent to Howe Creek and tributaries of Howe creek which flow to the Eel River. The THP includes 53 acres of clearcuts, and 10 acres of selection cuts. The THP proposes winter operations, new road and landing construction, and directional felling of trees in WLPZs. There are other landowners within 1000 feet downstream of proposed logging operations. There are three NSO territories within 1.3 miles of the harvest area including 1 Level 2 territory within 500 m. There are no Late Successional or Late Seral Forest stands planned for harvest as a part of this THP.
1-08-008 Hum - Rail Car THP
This Scotia Pacific THP is approximately 2 miles NE of the community of Myers Flat, and approximately 1 mile W of Fruitland, and Bridge Creek runs through it. The THP proposes 150 acres of clearcuts, winter operations, new landing construction, and directional felling of trees in WLPZs. There are other landowners within 1000 feet downstream, and domestic water sources in the vicinity. There is a Level 1 NSO territory within 500 feet of the logging area. There is a NSO nest tree in unit 8. This THP proposes to harvest Late Seral Forest. There are also known archeological or historical sites within the THP.
1-08-022 Hum- LE 24 THP
This 105 acre Scotia Pacific THP includes 42.9 acres of clearcuts, 26.4 acres of shelterwood removal step, 16.1 acres of selection6.9 acres of Non-Timberland, and 12.7 acres of No Harvest. This THP does not include Late Sucessional Forest, however, it includes Late Seral Forest. Yarding systems will include ground-based and cable.The plan includes winter ops. The THP proposes new road and landing construction.There are Class II and Class III water courses within or adjacent to the THP. There are watercourse crossings that require mapping.
1-08-026 Hum- Brown Bridge
This Scotia Pacific THP proposes to log 146.6 acres of clear-cuts out of the total 192 acre THP which is located approximately 300 feet north of the North Fork Elk River. The plan proposes winter ops, new road and landing construction. Class I, II, and II streams are found within or adjacent to the THP. Directional felling is proposed for WLPZs. There are other landowners within 1000 feet downstream of proposed logging. There are 9 NSO activity centers within 1.3 miles of the THP. Most of these are Level three owl centers. Marbled murrelet habitat is probably along appurtenant roads. There are archeological or historical sites located within the THP. There is an Osprey site on the boundary of Unit 4. This THP proposes the harvest of Late Seral Forest.
1-08-027 Hum- Upper Gate 2
This Scotia Pacific THP proposes to clear cut 66.1 acres out of the total 78.7 acres proposed for logging and is approximately 1.5 to 3 miles NE of Fortuna. Harvesting is proposed in unstable areas. The Erosion Hazard Rating is Moderate to High. Ground-based equipment will be used on slopes greater than 65%. The THP is adjacent to or has Class I, II or III watercourses within it's boundaries. The THP proposes winter ops, and directional felling of trees in WLPZs.There are other landowners within 1000 feet downstream. There are 7 owl activity centers within 1.3 miles of the THP including a Level two owl center within 500 feet of a logging area. The THP may have marbled murrelet habitat in the vicinity or along appurtenant roads. This THP proposes the logging of Late Seral Forest. The THP proposes to harvest near tributaries of anadromous fish bearing streams. This THP may have Howell's montia present.
1-08-041 Hum THP- Whiskey
This Scotia Pacific THP includes 122.7 acres of clear-cuts out of the total of 160.1 acres of proposed logging and is located approximately 700 feet from Graham Gulch which is a tributary of Freshwater Creek. This THP proposes winter ops and new road and landing construction. This THP includes Class II and III watercourses within or adjacent to the proposed logging area, and includes directional felling of trees within the WLPZs. There are other landowners within 1000 feet downstream. This THP has 6 owl activity centers within 1.3 miles of logging areas, including a level one owl center within 1000 feet of a proposed logging unit. There is a portion of unit 3 that is considered marbled murrelet habitat which is proposed for clearcutting. This THP is within a planning watershed for Coho. There may be incidences of Howell's montia within or along appurtenant roads of the THP. This THP proposes the harvest of Late Seral Forest. There are archeological or historical sites of interest within the THP.
1-08-046 Hum- Bearly Green
This Scotia Pacific THP, which is south of Stafford about a mile, straddling the ridge of Bear and Greenlow creeks, includes 9.4 acres of clear-cuts, and over 60 acres of shelterwood cuts out of a total of 82.5 acres. Harvesting is proposed in unstable areas. This THP proposes winter ops, new road and landing construction, and directional felling of trees within WLPZs. There are Class II and III watercourses within or adjacent to this THP. There are other landowners within 1000 feet downstream. There are 9 spotted owl territories within 1.3 miles of the THP. This THP proposes hauling logs within ¼ mile of the seasonal marbled murrelet buffer around Humboldt Redwoods. This THP proposes the logging of Late Seral Forest.
1-08-047 Hum- Stafford Left
This THP, which is just south of Stafford, adjacent to Highway 101, includes 33.8 acres of clearcut logging out of a total of 50.1 acres. This THP is within a mile of ancient redwood forests found in Humboldt Redwoods State Park. The THP includes Helicopter yarding over the town of Stafford, as well as winter ops, new road and landing construction, and directional felling of trees in WLPZs. There are other landowners within 1000 feet downstream. Scotia Pacific requested to exempt themselves from notifying downstream landowners. There are 8 NSO activity centers within 1.3 miles of the proposed THP. This THP proposes logging in Late Seral Forest. There are archeological or historical sites within the THP.
1-08-048 Hum- Little 34
This Scotia Pacific THP, which is in the Little Freshwater Creek drainage, includes 111 acres of clearcuts out of a total of 170 acres. The plan includes winter ops, new landing construction, and directional felling of trees within WLPZs. There are Class I, II, and III watercourses within or adjacent to the THP. There are 6 spotted owl territories within 1.3 miles of the THP. The THP proposes the logging of Late Seral Forest. There are archeological or historical sites within the THP.
1-08-050 Hum- Pony
This Scotia Pacific THP, which straddles the ridge between Bridge Creek and McCann Creek to the southwest of Whitlow, includes 103 acres of clearcuts out of 150 acres total. The THP proposes Shovel logging amongst other yarding techniques, logging in unstable soils or slide areas, winter ops, new road and landing construction, and directional felling in WLPZs. Logging is proposed within or adjacent to Class II and III watercourses. There is one Level One spotted owl territory within 1000 feet an appurtenant road. This THP proposes the harvest of marbled murrelet habitat. This THP proposes the logging of Late Seral Forest. There are archeological or historical sites in the area of the THP.
