Bring Down the Dam - Savage Rapids on the Rogue
United States and Waterwatch, et al. v. State of Oregon and Grants Pass Irrigation District

Date Filed: August 25, 2001

EPIC intervened with a coalition of organizations in a case that was filed on behalf of the people of the United States to remove the Savage Rapids dam on the Rogue River in Oregon. A settlement was reached over the summer in 2001 in which the defendants agreed to cease operating the dam for irrigation by the end of the 2005 season and allow dam removal to begin. A consent decree establishing this was approved and adopted by the court in Eugene, Oregon on August 25, 2001.

EPIC was represented in this case by Michael Sherwood of the Earthjustice Legal Defense Center.
