The Visual Blight

The proposed location is the site of the old Simpson Samoa mill, which has been a giant eyesore in Eureka for years. Now in the process being demolished and cleared, it would be replaced by yet another visual blight if the LNG facility is approved. The proposed facility would include two 150- to 160-foot-high storage tanks--about 15 stories tall each--that would be clearly visible from Eureka waterfront. The power plant and other industrial structures would also be in view, as would a giant, 900-foot long tanker on a regular basis.
