  • No Pepper Spray On Nonviolent Protesters
    Headwaters Forest activists are suing Humboldt County over pepper spray use by law enforcement at peaceful sit-in protests in 1997. Shocking police videos on network TV showing deputies using Q-Tips to apply pepper spray directly to the activists' eyes drew international condemnation of the tactic. The U.S. Supreme Court recently let stand an appeals court decision granting the activists a new trial.
